  Stunning handmade and hand embroidered black silk evening bag with glowing central amethyst cabochon medallion. Intricately embroidered with delicate gray silk flowers, metallic threads, and semi precious stones, in the zardozi tradition, on Dupioni silk, by the most skilled master artisans .
  
  Embroidered both sides - see photo collage for front and back stones which differ slightly due to natural variation in stones.
  
  Dupioni silk is the most widely known silk and is made in India. It is a medium weight silk with a textured effect. The ribbing that you see is a desired characteristic of Dupioni silk and is not a defect in the material.
  
  Zardozi is from the Persian and means "gold thread" . It is an elaborate art of multidimensional embroidery using gold and silver threads and embellished with precious and semi precious stones. Zardozi had its origins in Persia and was introduced into India by the ruling Mughals in the early 16th century. It was used mainly to adorn the robes of the royal families. The city of Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, was the seat of the Mughal Empire and it remains a center for traditional handicrafts that had flourished under the Mughal patronage.
  Fully lined in black sateen, with two gathered pockets the entire length of the clutch.
  
  Secure magnetic snap closure.
  
  Exterior measurements are 11 x 4 1/2 in tall, 1 1/2 in deep at the bottom, tapering to the top. Interior measurement is only 3 in tall, due to placement of the snaps. Your cell phone may or may not fit, or it may fit it without the case. Please measure your phone. Slim sleek profile, but has additional room for money and credit cards.
