  Zardozi is from the Persian and means "gold thread" . It is an elaborate art of multidimensional embroidery using gold and silver threads and embellished with precious stones. Zardozi had its origins in Persia and was introduced into India by the ruling Mughals in the early 16th century. It was used mainly to adorn the robes of the royal families. The city of Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, was the seat of the Mughal Empire and it remains a center for traditional handicrafts that had flourished under the Mughal patronage. Today, over 15,000 craftsmen still practice the craft in the city of Agra, making elaborate zardozi purses, belts, tapestries, jewelry boxes and garments. Stunning and unique evening bag!

  Twp large lapis lazuli pieces measuring 1 1/2 in and four sparkly goldstone pieces measuring 1 - 1 1/4 in. On rich turquoise and gold brocade pattern background.
  
  Goldstone is a type of glittering glass, and is often mistaken as a natural material. It is also known as sandstone when used in watches, even though it doesn't look like sandstone. Also called monkstone or monk's gold, after a monastic order. Also known as stellaria in Persian, due to the starry internal reflections. The finished product can take a smooth polish and be carved into beads, figurines, or other artifacts. The most common form of goldstone is reddish-brown, containing tiny crystals of metallic copper that sparkle regardless of the light.
  
  Measures 6 1/2 to 9 inches tall. 6 1/2 to 13 1/2 inches wide. 2 1/2 in deep. Rounded bottom., but stands upright.
  
  Interior expertly finished, lined in blue sateen, with one credit card slot and one gathered pouch. Magnetic snap closure to keep your contents secure.
  
  Simple, flat shoulder straps of matching fabric, drop of 13 in, so fits comfortable under your arm. Straps can be easily replace with chain or other detail.
